The Transportation Assistance Account helps reduce the strain on employees’ paychecks caused by work-related transportation expenses. The Transportation Account works just like a Flexible Spending Account, allowing employees to use pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible transportation expenses.  Eligible expenses include subway, train, and bus costs, as well as work-related parking.
For more details, download the Transportation Assistance brochure.

There are two types of Transportation Assistance Accounts:

The Parking Account
Used to pay for parking expenses incurred at or near your worksite, or a facility from which employees commute to work by carpool, commuter highway vehicle, mass transit facilities, or by any other means.

The Transit Account
Used to pay for mass transit costs, such as subway, train, bus, ferries and transit in a qualified commuter vehicle (e.g. vanpool).

A transit pass is any pass, token, fare card, voucher or similar item entitling a person to transportation on mass transit facilities.
